There is a phenomenon I’ve noticed in the corporate world – and trust me, I’m qualified to know; I’ve been in the corporate world my whole life – that the corporation would want you to believe that teamwork, camaraderie and sacrifice for the greater good (ie. corporate profits) is how to be recognized and rewarded as a great employee. Unfortunately, the very nature of the corporate structure with its echelons of command and vast amount of personnel breeds an insidious environment of competition and “fakery” such that just the opposite becomes the reality. I don’t say this with a level of bitterness, but rather of observation and a spirit of sharing as I’m sure many reading this have felt a level of frustration in their careers as the seemingly “wrong” people get promoted while the quiet team players get things done with no fanfare. If you are one of those people who has found a way around the corporate inequity machine please share your story below. Or if you left the corporate world to become a successful entrepreneur, we’d definitely love to hear that. Perhaps you’ve gone from no work to your dream career – or at least no work to steady work. It’s all helpful. Any inspiring stories at all in the career space would be enlightening and refreshing. So please post your before and afters below!
